A cove bit is a router bit that I have used many times to cut a inward rounded groove along the edge of a workpiece, it makes a great decorative profile and adds to the finished project. The core box bit is designed to cut a rounded, half-circular groove (or channel) into the face of a workpiece, commonly used for fluting or routing channels as in a juice groove on a cutting board. The main difference is that cove bits shape edges, while core box bits cut grooves into surfaces. In my shop I have and use both these bits very often for a great outcome .
