The choice between countersink and counterbore depends what type of fastener ( xxxx head or bolt head ) the xxxx head will sit flush to the countersink , Bolt type heads will sit below the surface with a flat-bottomed hole using the counterbore. Countersinks are best for wood screws and aesthetic finishes, while counterbores are great for accommodating bolt heads or plugs. The Amana Tool 55229 is an excellent countersink for woodworking, and the Amana Tool 55142 is designed for counterboring. In my shop I use both of these great tools very often and my workpieces come out perfect .There are several choices available for both of these tools in this category, ensuring you can find the right tool for the right job/finish.
