Material compatibility is very important when choosing a carbide tipped countersinks and counterbores because using the right tool for your workpiece makes a cleaner cuts, give you longer tool life, and better finishes. Carbide tips work best for harder materials like hardwoods, MDF, composite decking, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. Some such as the Amana Tool AMS-307 and Amana Tool 55229, are made for use on a wide variety of materials, from natural woods to acrylics and aluminum composites.
In my shop I have this one rule use the right tool for the material you working on because if you force a tool to work on the wrong material and you break it you will be buying another.
