In my shop we use several types of countersinks, including single-flute, multi-flute, and cross-hole (or zero-flute) countersinks. Each type is used for different materials and applications, such as creating a conical hole for flat-head screws or deburring holes. The one used depends on what finish and material being worked, and the precision required. In my shop we use the Amana tool 55227 countersink because it works great every time and give me the perfect hole for the xxxx to seat itself in.
