Quick clamps can hold metal for light-duty tasks, but they may not provide enough holding power for cutting, especially if significant force or vibration is involved. For safer and more secure results, it's better to use heavy-duty clamps or a proper metal vise when cutting metal.
Using the wrong holding device will get you hurt really bad and possibly cause and injury that will make you stop working all together. In my shop it's safety first or you will be looking for a job ASAP.
