Lasers cannot cut materials that strongly reflect or absorb the laser’s wavelength, such as highly reflective metals like copper or aluminum, or transparent materials like certain types of glass and acrylic (depending on the laser type). Materials that conduct heat away rapidly, have high thermal resistance, or are extremely thick can also present challenges for standard laser cutters. Additionally, some composites or layered materials may char, melt, or delaminate rather than cut cleanly. However, advanced laser machines offer impressive all-metal capability, allowing for precise color engraving, embossing, and cutting of materials like brass and stainless steel, making them versatile and high-quality tools.
