You really only need a wood router if you plan to do tasks like shaping edges, cutting grooves, or making intricate designs in wood. That being said a Router these days has many more options and the variety of quality bits available are endless. If your woodworking projects are simple and don’t require detailed joinery or decorative edges, you might not need one. However, a router can greatly expand your capabilities and improve the quality of your work.
