Hook angle affects feed rate and cutting aggressiveness. Blades with a higher positive hook angle (such as 15° or 18°) like the Timberline 175-24C and Timberline 175-40B provide faster, more aggressive cuts, ideal for framing and general use. Negative hook angles, like on the Amana Tool NC-820, offer safer, more controlled cuts—particularly useful in demolition and when hitting nails. The range of hook angles available allows you to select the ideal blade for speed, safety, and material control. In my shop I stock many of these blades for uninterrupted service because if you have to order one it will temporarily stop the job and waste time.
