A rip blade is designed for cutting along the wood grain and typically has fewer, larger teeth to remove material quickly. A crosscut blade, on the other hand, is made for cutting across the wood grain and has more, smaller teeth to produce a smoother finish. The right blade for the job is the rule in my shop and the best quality blades keeps the job moving along .
