Whether circular sanders are better depends on the task. Circular sanders (orbital or random orbital) are great for quickly removing material and creating a smooth finish, especially on large, flat surfaces. However, for detailed or precise work, other types of sanders like detail sanders may be more suitable for the job at hand. In my shop it's "The right tool for the right job" because if you use it incorrectly and break it , you buy a new one.
