An oscillating sander is a power tool used for smoothing and finishing surfaces, especially wood. It moves the sanding pad in a rapid back-and-forth (oscillating) motion, allowing for efficient material removal and a smooth finish. This tool is ideal for sanding curves, edges, and hard-to-reach areas. In my shop we use the Random Orbit type sanders because the speed can be regulated and the orbit as well.
