To use a panel pilot bit, install it in your router and adjust the depth to match your material thickness. Position the bit at your starting point, turn on the router, and guide it steadily along the template or marked outline to cut precise holes or openings in panels. There is usually a bearing at the top of the bit or the bottom of it to guide it around the template.
