To tell the size of a router bit, check the shank diameter (usually 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch) and the cutting diameter, which is the width of the bit at its widest point. These measurements are often printed on the bit itself or listed on the packaging. Using the wrong bit can damage the workpiece and destroy the router bit. Quality is the key to uninterrupted service.
