Carbide planer blades are generally worth it for most users because they stay sharper much longer than high-speed steel (HSS) blades and can handle harder or dirtier woods without dulling quickly. While they cost more upfront, their durability and reduced need for frequent sharpening or replacement often make them more economical in the long run. I have found they are worth every penny because of the uninterrupted service they provide and that makes my customers return customers with many great referrals behind them.
