To operate a CNC router, you typically need CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create designs, CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to generate toolpaths and G-code, and CNC control software to run the machine. Popular examples include Fusion 360 (CAD/CAM), VCarve (CAM), and Mach3 or UCCNC (control software). I have the Carbide 3D Shapoeko 2x4 foot model and it uses Carbide Create software and I like it and it works for me.
