You should not use a radial arm saw to make rip cuts, which are cuts made parallel to the length of the wood. Radial arm saws are designed primarily for crosscuts, and attempting to rip wood can be dangerous due to the risk of kickback. Always use a table saw for rip cuts instead. The radial arm saw as in many other pieces of Mindless Machines of creating will bite you if your mind wanders .. even for a second..
