Router bits come in a variety of profiles, including straight, round-over, chamfer, cove, ogee, rabbeting, and dovetail, each designed to create specific shapes and edges on wood. These profiles allow woodworkers to cut grooves, shape decorative edges, and join pieces together. The choice of bit depends on the desired finished look and the woodworking project requirements. Some router bits have a bearing at the bottom and sometimes at the top which guides it along the workpiece. In my shop I only use quality bits in my CNC and routers.
