The invention of adhesive cannot be credited to a single person, as natural adhesives like tree resins and animal glues have been used by humans for thousands of years. The first synthetic adhesive was developed in 1910 by German chemist Fritz Klatte, who created polyvinyl acetate (PVA). Since then, many types of adhesives have been invented for different uses.
