OSHA requires that grinders be equipped with appropriate guards, safety shields, and tool rests set no more than 1/8 inch from the wheel. Operators must wear proper personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and face shields, and inspect equipment before use. Only trained and authorized personnel should operate grinders, following all manufacturer instructions and OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910.215).
