Materials that cannot be CNC machined include very soft materials like certain rubbers and some types of foam, which may deform or tear instead of cutting cleanly. Extremely hard or brittle materials, such as tempered glass or some ceramics, are also unsuitable because they can crack or damage the cutting tools. Additionally, materials that release hazardous fumes when machined, like some plastics, are often avoided.
