For a router base, acrylic that is 1/4 inch (about 6 mm) thick is commonly used, as it provides a good balance of strength and visibility. Thicker acrylic, such as 3/8 inch (about 9 mm), can be used for larger or more heavy-duty routers to add extra rigidity and stability.
