Starlock and OIS are both mounting systems for oscillating multi-tool accessories. The main difference is that Starlock features a three-dimensional, star-shaped design that allows for tool-free, snap-in accessory changes and provides better power transfer, while OIS (Oscillating Interface System) uses a flat, 12-pin design that generally requires a tool for accessory changes and may not transfer power as efficiently. Starlock is a newer system developed by Fein, and it is backward compatible with many OIS tools, but not vice versa.
