The two main types of routers are wired routers, battery powered routers which is also broken down to sizes . The two sizes are the Standard router which has a higher horsepower and the Palm Router which is smaller and as it says fits in the palm of your hand. Routers also come in Plunge Routers which lets you move the router down while cutting to a certain depth and are in both sizes of routers. many Standard router come with both options of Plunge and Fixed base and 1/4 and 1/2 inch collets for the different size bits available.
