To choose the right drill bit for a plug, select a bit that matches the diameter of the plug you plan to insert. The drilled hole should be just large enough for the plug to fit snugly without being forced. Plug cutters range in size from 1/4 , 3/8 , 1/2 and 5/8 th and also come in straight or tapered style.
