No, router are not made to sand wood. A router is designed for shaping, cutting, and hollowing out wood, not for smoothing surfaces like a sander. For sanding, you should use a tool specifically made for that purpose, such as an orbital sander or sanding block. Alaways use the right tool for the job at hand , "rigging " a tool will cause damage to you and your project.
