If you have a shaper, you may not need a router table, as shapers can handle most tasks that router tables do, often with more power and larger cutters. However, router tables can be more convenient for smaller, detailed work and for using router bits that shapers can't accommodate. Whether you need both depends on the range of woodworking tasks you plan to do. Many beginner craftsman will start out with a Router Table and as the need arises they will move up to a shaper.
