A shaper can typically make cuts up to about 6 to 12 mm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) deep in a single pass, depending on the material and machine size. However, for harder materials or finer finishes, shallower cuts are usually recommended to avoid tool damage and achieve better surface quality. The maximum depth of cut also depends on the rigidity of the setup and the power of the shaper.
