A router is a power tool used to hollow out or shape edges of wood, often for decorative or joinery purposes. A sander, on the other hand, is used to smooth surfaces by abrasion with sandpaper. While a router shapes and cuts, a sander smooths and finishes. Router can also be used in Router Flattening Sled to level the surface of rough wood as in wood slabs.
