Forstner bits should generally be run at slower speeds compared to regular drill bits. For bits up to 1 inch in diameter, use speeds of 1,000–1,500 RPM; for larger bits, reduce the speed to 500–1,000 RPM. Slower speeds help prevent overheating and ensure a clean, accurate cut.
