A good size for a bandsaw depends on your intended use. For most woodworking tasks in a home workshop, a bandsaw with a 14-inch wheel and a 6 to 12-inch resaw capacity is versatile and sufficient. Larger bandsaws (16 inches or more) are better for frequent resawing or cutting thicker stock.
Bandsaws also are used to cut metal in a machining capacity.
