A chamfer router bit is used to cut a beveled edge, usually at a 45-degree angle but the are many others available, along the edge of a workpiece. This creates a decorative or functional sloped edge, often for joining pieces as in metal work or for aesthetic detail in woodworking projects as in box making and decorative wall plaques.
