Will a tapered ball-nose produce false touch-off readings because its diameter varies?

How well does it work with a tapered ball nose? The tbn isn't the same all the way down the bit. So would it get false reading because of this?

Dear Kmoon,
This would work with a tapered ball nose cutter as you would have in your machine program listed the type of cutter this touch probe would be measuring.
