Max plunge depth for #203201 (0.5" vs expected 1") and whether a 10mm collet suffices instead of an adapter for CNC Carbide Tipped Hinge Boring Bits - 57mm Long - 10mm Shank - 2-wing w/ Spurs-Right Hand

The answer to an earlier question seemed to indicate that the maximum plunge depth for #203201 is only .5". Similar bits are used in woodworking drill presses to drill much deeper holes. It seems to me that this bit could drill at least 1" deep. Am I wrong?

Also, an answer to another question suggested that an adapter is needed for CNC use. Wouldn't a 10mm collet work just fine and be more secure?
